We did pastel drawings of Te Kue]ri a Paop. First we used white chalk to do the outline and then we used pastels. We put one colour over another and they blended fairly nicely. We used black pastel to outline it and make it show better. This is the result that I got.

Te Kuri a Paoa
We have been learning about Kiwa and Paoa. When they cam =e to Gisborne, they called Young Nick's Head Te Kuri a Paoa because it looked like Paoa's dog. When Captain Cook came, he called it Young Nick's Head because they saw land over Nic's head.

Kia ora Amelia,
ReplyDeleteI liked the way you started your blog post with an explanation of the name and who named it.
I also liked the way you described the art process you went through. Did using the white chalk first help you? Are you pleased with your final art? Is there anything you would do differently?
